Meet the Team: Faustine Lin

What's your role on the Third Pie Studios (TPS) team and what all does this entail?
Hello everyone! I’m Faustine, and my role in this super amazing team is the 2D artist! So the UI designs, characters, and parts of the environment and buildings are drawn by me and designed so that they fit the overall aesthetic and theme of Ages of Cataria. By collaborating, giving, and receiving critiques from everyone, I am able to draw out ideas that start off as early sketches and transform them into finished, rendered artwork that will hopefully attract many players of all different ages to our game.
What interested you in game development?
Back in elementary school I started to play some games on the web, such as Neopets and Club Penguin. I would enjoy chatting and playing with random strangers from all over the world. I would be so engrossed in my games and eventually time would just fly by and I would end up not finishing my homework! As I grew older, I started to play more and more games, not just on PC, but consoles as well. It got to the point where I would always wonder how game development worked and what the process is and how long it would take to completely finish making a game. Since I love games so much, I always thought how amazing it would feel to be a part of the game development team and work together to create an amazing game that people will enjoy.
What are your favorite video games, and why?
I absolutely LOVE the Shin Megami Tensei series (same company as Persona but much, much darker) because I love to look at character and creature designs, and these games have over 100! I do enjoy collecting monsters, which is why I also love to play Pokemon as well. Besides these monster/demon collecting games, I also enjoy playing League of Legends because I love playing games with my friends. For me personally, talking and laughing with your buddies while playing games is one of the best feelings in the world.
What about Ages of Cataria are you most excited about?
I am super duper excited to see everyone’s hard work come to life in Ages of Cataria. I also can’t wait to see all the different kinds of play-styles and choices that other players make in the future! Since I am a huge sucker of colony-building games, I really want to play Ages of Cataria right now and start farming!
What are your favorite non-gaming things to do?
Besides games, I enjoy shopping for clothes and makeup most of the time. I love to look at different fashion styles and enjoy going out travelling or on a vacation for some fun, picture taking session. If I’m not browsing on a website for cosmetics and accessories, I will most likely be watching a movie or going out with friends for some food adventure.
